Spiral Ham with Brown Butter Maple Glaze

It’s all about the glaze! The sweetness of the maple syrup, brown sugar and orange juice is balanced out by the hit of Dijon and herbal notes of the thyme. Combine it with the smokiness of the ham and you have a deliciously new classic for holidays and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 Citarella smoked spiral sliced ham
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 Tbsp fresh thyme leaves
- Citarella sides, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to oven to 325°F.
- Wrap ham in foil and place cut side down, on a foil lined baking dish.
- Bake ham 15 minutes per pound until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium high heat, brown butter until deep caramel color. Add orange juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, Dijon, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes until beginning to thicken.
- Remove ham from oven and turn oven to 400°F.
- Remove the foil from the ham, spoon glaze all over. Place back in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes until glaze is beginning to caramelize on the ham.
- Remove from oven, slice and serve with your favorite Citarella sides!
