Community Support and Giving Back

Every community needs nourishment, and we’re passionate about giving back. With stores in various neighborhoods throughout New York City, the Hamptons, and Connecticut, there’s a lot of good the Citarella family does.
Citarella has given to several hundred organizations—from food banks, schools, and hospitals to foundations and cultural art centers.
For instance, Citarella has been a long-time supporter of CityMeals-on-Wheels, which helps feed homebound elderly New Yorkers, having raised more than $1,000,000 since 2004.
In addition, Citarella supports the mission of the East End Fund for Children to provide essential food and educational programming for underserved children.
Citarella also sponsors events at Guild Hall, the cultural heart of the East End, as well the Children’s Museum of East End, which sparks imagination and fosters learning for children of all backgrounds and abilities.
Owner Joe Gurrera himself is an avid and continued supporter of many charities. One of those organizations is the Boomer Esiason Foundation, whose mission is to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Joe was honored as the “2022 Boomer Esiason Foundation MVP."
Here are just some of the ways Citarella gives back:
