Grilled Calamari with Tomatoes

Grilling calamari is one of our favorite ways to prepare it. It really brings out the sweetness of the fish. Here we combine it with a fresh tomato salad featuring grilled lemons, olive oil and fresh herbs for a bright and light way to enjoy a satisfying meal.


  Ingredients

  • 2 large calamari
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ¼ cup basil, roughly chopped
  • ¼ cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Citarella sides, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Season calamari with salt, pepper, and 1 Tbsp olive oil. Grill for 1 minute per side and remove from heat. Meanwhile, grill lemon until charred.
  3. Mix halved tomatoes with grilled lemon juice, remaining olive oil, and herbs. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Slice calamari and mix with tomato salad. Enjoy with your favorite Citarella sides!
