Fresh from the Atlantic, Butterfish is a locally sourced, wild caught fish. It’s alluringly delicate. It’s astonishingly versatile. It's true to its name, rich and buttery. This small fish has a fatty, flaky flesh and is best cooked whole, keeping the flakes juicy. Whether fried and paired with southeast Asian flavors like galangal, lemongrass, and pepper or marinated in olive oil and lemon and grilled with vegetables, butterfish from Citarella gourmet market is always quality seafood.
It?s one of our favorites, especially grilled with olive oil and herbs. Butterfish is best cooked whole.
Portion Size
Our whole Wild Butterfish is approximately 3/4 pounds each. We recommend 1 lb. of raw fish per person when serving whole fish. The size of this order is 2 LBS (approx. 4-6 ounces per fish), which serves approx. 2 people.
