Citarella Gourmet Stuffing

SERVES:    4-6

PREP TIME:   5 minutes

TOTAL TIME:   45 minutes

COURSE:  Side

This classic stuffing is so easy to put together because our gourmet mix has everything you need in one package. It’s delicious on its own, but it also makes a great base on which to build layers of flavors with additional ingredients. Make it your own!

  Ingredients

  • 1 bag Citarella Stuffing Mix
  • 2 cups broth
  • 6 Tbsp salted butter
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Open stuffing packaging and remove packet of dried mushrooms. Place mushrooms in a bowl and cover with 2 cups boiling water. Cover bowl and let steep for minimum 3 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. In a small pot, add mushrooms with their soaking liquid, butter, and stock. Bring to a simmer, then cover and remove from heat, allowing to steep for 5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
  4. In a large bowl add remaining contents of stuffing mix and pour hot liquid on top, mix until bread has absorbed the liquid. (If you are stuffing a turkey, allow the stuffing to cool then add it to the cavity of the turkey.)
  5. Rub olive oil around bottom and sides of a 13’ x 9’ baking dish. Pour stuffing mixture into baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Turn oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to rest for 5 minutes then enjoy with your favorite Citarella sides!
OPTIONS: This stuffing is customizable! You can add wild rice, more veggies, and browned sausage too!
